Inspire kids to cook on Food Revolution Day

Unilever Foods is teaming up with Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution Day to celebrate the importance of good food, pass on cooking skills and raise awareness of how food impacts our health and happiness.

This year’s Food Revolution Day (#FRD) on 16 May aims to inspire kids from all over the world to get excited about food and cooking from scratch with fresh ingredients. Watch the video for a taste of what’s to come LINK

More than 124,000 people from 103 countries have signed up to events in cities around the world to help reconnect people with food. Many voluntary Food Revolution ambassadors are holding events in hubs like Sao Paulo, New York and Sydney and Unilever’s Foodie teams are joining these events to increase reach and impact of Unilever’s commitment to good nutrition and help bring the cooking fun to life.

Meanwhile in London, Unilever chefs and nutritionists will visit schools to teach children about nutrition and healthy eating.

Antoine de Saint-Affrique, President, Foods, says:"Food plays a key role at many levels from securing a living to millions of farmers and small holders, to feeding families or helping to grow healthy while bringing joy around the table. Making sure everyone knows what makes good food, transmitting and building cooking skills and preserving the diversity of food cultures is something we are really passionate about “

As part of the day celebrity chef Jamie Oliver will be broadcasting a live cooking class to schoolchildren around the world and hopes to break the Guinness World Record for the most participants in a cookery lesson in 24 hours.

Jamie says: “I believe that we all now have a duty to teach children to understand what food does to their bodies if we’re going to make any progress in tackling obesity and diet-related disease, that means governments, businesses, everyone. Now is the time to focus the energies of everyone involved in Food Revolution Day on teaching kids and keeping cooking skills alive at a time when we need them more than ever.”
