This 2020, things may be different, but the goal of Unilever Careers Philippines is the same. Unilever Careers Philippines will continue to provide opportunities that will hone young talents into future leaders by coming up with groundbreaking virtual programs. On its 6th year, the Unilever Business Week & the Unilever Internship Program have gone virtual!
The Unilever Internship Program was officially kicked-off through a 2-day virtual onboarding last June 1-2. During this 2-day onboarding, the Business Weekers learned about Unilever as a company, it’s mission and vision and the several functions that altogether run the whole business. In order to keep the interns more connected through the virtual set-up, the Business Weekers enjoyed the game nights and exclusive bonding sessions with members from the Philippines Leadership Team including our Chairman and CEO, Benjie Yap. On top of these virtual engagement activities, Business Weekers participated in a virtual Purpose Workshop, which is usually run for Unilever employees.
The Business Week has also gone virtual. During the virtual week-long immersion, the Business Weekers got to better understand how the whole business works through solving several business cases across the different functions in Unilever. They also enjoyed interacting with Unilever employees and engaging with Unilever leaders through virtual talk shows, mixers and breakout sessions. The Business Weekers learned valuable lessons not just about the business but about innovation, perseverance, and power of lasting connections through these challenging times.
“One unique thing about Unilever is that it has a culture centered around learning and development. Even in this virtual set-up, I was able to learn beyond Supply Chain and grasp how the whole business works. This experience really pushed me outside my comfort zone and helped me grow as a purposeful individual. This is definitely one of my college highlights,” shares Dom Henson, Supply Chain Intern & Unilever Business Weeker 2020.
Even though the Unilever Business Week has gone virtual, our Business Weekers still received Business Week Care Packages containing Unilever products, the iconic Business Week Jacket, and the Unilever Business Week & Internship Certificates. These packages were delivered to their houses, even all the way to Isabela, Tacloban and Cagayan De Oro.
"Unilever empowered me to make decisions and entrusted me with projects that make a real impact, and this fueled me to keep on thriving and reaching my full potential. Despite the challenge of having it in a virtual set-up, the support and trust that my team gave me allowed me to have confidence in myself and in everything I do. I’m glad that I can look back and say that I was able to make the most out of this amazing experience," says Rina Mutiangpili, Human Resources Intern & Unilever Business Weeker 2020.
Unilever Careers Philippines will continue to pivot and hold its very first virtual campus tour that will be open to all. During the virtual campus tour, Unilever Careers Philippines will take participants through the different opportunities in store for undergraduate students and young professionals.
Fresh graduates and young professionals who want to be part of Unilever may start applying for the Unilever Future Leaders Programme (UFLP) from October 12 until November 16. The UFLP is a 3-year accelerated leadership programme where fresh graduates and young professionals with maximum of two years of work experience are fast-tracked into readiness for leadership roles.
