Unilever sustainable feeding programme

23/08/2006 : Children from Munting Pamayanan ng May Kapansanan in Manggahan, Pasig are now part of  Unilever’s ‘Pasiglahin ang Batang Pinoy’.

ADDING VITALITY TO THE IMPAIRED

A wholistic and sustainable feeding program where the focus is not only on giving food to the children but also on other developmental needs, such as education, value formation, and achieving overall vitality in their lives. Mothers of the children are also enjoined to work together by preparing the meals from a prescribed list of nutritious menus for their children. Prior to the program, the children were weighed, dewormed, and prepared  to keep track of their health and weight progress.

“Mahalaga sa aming magdagdag sigla sa buhay hindi lang sa aming mga produkto pati sa aming komunidad (it is important for us to add vitality to life not only through our products but also to our community),” said Unilever general manager for Corporate Development Chito Macapagal. “We hope that through this program, we can show our handicapped brethren that we can help them achieve the normal growth and health of their children,” adds Macapagal.  To ensure the success of this endeavor, Unilever partnered with multi-sectoral groups  including Kabisig ng Kalahi, Pasig Social Welfare and Development and Brgy. Manggahan Pasig City.  To date there are over 700 children who participated in the program across Unilever sites.
