British Foreign Minister Meg Munn Takes Part in Unilever’s Feeding Program
British Foreign Minister for Southeast Asia and the Pacific Meg Munn visited Unilever Philippines’ Pasiglahin ang Batang Pinoy feeding program in Baseco during her 3-day stay in the country. She was able to interact with the children and their mothers, giving her first hand insights about their conditions. Munn expressed gratitude for the warm welcome she received from the community and was also very much impressed with the achievements of the program.
The sustainable and wholistic six-month feeding program is part of Unilever’s effort to support undernourished children in its neighboring communities. The focus is not only on giving food to the children but also on other developmental needs such as education, values formation, and achieving overall vitality in their lives. Mothers of the children are also enjoined to work together by preparing the meals from a prescribed list of nutritious menus for their children. To date, there are more than one thousand children who had been part of the program.
“Pasiglahin and Batang Pinoy” is a multi-sectoral partnership of Unilever Philippines, Kabisig ng Kalahi, Department of Social Welfare and Development, and various local city councils.
